My beautiful granddaughter :)
HAPPY GRADUATION
BACKGROUND:
Homeschooled 5 years, Attended Private School 4 years,
and Public School 3 years (she skipped a grade in junior high).
Summer graduated with a 3.88 GPA and was in
the top 6 % of her class of over 250 kids. She maintained
her high grades in addition to working for her dad as a
graphic typesetter throughout her junior and senior year.
HER INTERESTS ARE:
ART, (her art was on display at our local art museum in May)
DRAMA, Youth Group School Involvement:
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
National Art Honor Society and Student Council
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
Summer has a "little sister" she meets
with weekly and tutors a Spanish immigrant in English as a second language.
AWARDS:
Michigan Merit Award (33% of all Michigan students who take this
required test receive the award), Michigan Competitive Scholarship (based on
SAT/ACT score), Who's Who Among American High School Students, and the St.
Johns Rotary Scholarship for Academics and community involvement (Only 1 St.
Johns high school senior was selected for this honor and Summer got it - $1000).
Her poetry has also been selected for to be published in 2 separate publications.
PLANS:
She has been accepted to Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL, but is
choosing to delay her college career for 1 year to attend Rockford Master's
Commission, a highly intensive & focused ministry outreach group in Rockford,
Illinois. She wants to become a Youth Pastor with a minor in art.
She will be applying to several more Christian colleges before she leaves
for Rockford Sept. 21st.
