YMCA Camp Winona has been doing Outdoor Education in many forms almost since camping began here in 1919. Kids of all ages have been given the opportunity to experience life away from the city and get closer to things that they may have only seen in pictures.

The outdoor education program at YMCA Camp Winona provides a comprehensive study of Florida's natural environment. Hands-on lessons and activities give students the unique opportunity to learn outside the traditional classroom. The lessons learned align to the Sunshine State Standards and offer memories that will last a lifetime. Programs can be adapted to meet the needs of specific groups.

The outdoor education program at YMCA Camp Winona is a cooperative effort between camp staff, teachers, and parents. A member of our staff will meet with teachers to discuss the individual needs of the students and give an overview of the curriculum. The staff are also available for student and parent presentations regarding the outdoor education program. Programs can be planned for 1,2,3 or 4 night stays. One day field trips can also be scheduled.

Camp Winona is located on beautiful Lake Winona just outside of DeLeon Springs, Florida. The 60 acre camp covers lush forests, open fields, and beautiful freshwater shorelines. Our facilities include rustic cabins with electricity, an air conditioned dining hall and a new Education Center. Since 1919 Camp Winona has offered quality outdoor experiences for young and old alike.
