Terrifying Joy

This is the third of three pieces made for the Chapel at Andover Newton Theological School in 2001. They reflect upon the journey through theological education, drawing on traditional themes of the Church year. The first piece was entitled "Responding to the Call" and the second piece "Questions Hard at the Door."

This tapestry represents both the joy of completion and the anxiety about the graduate's future in ministry. Representing the third year of seminary, it also corresponds to the seasons of Easter and Pentecost. The tapestry is 40" by 50".
