The Source (1991)

Many American Indian prayers begin with an invocation to "Father Sky and Mother Earth." Here Mother Earth, with her creative powers, emerges out of the red clay. From her bowl flow the living waters of life into all parts of nature. Father Sky appears as the traditional Christian symbol of the Trinity. The whole is framed by the thirteen moons signifying the cycles of female fertility. Collage and embroidery. 30" x 20".
