Advent Installation (2005)

This set of painted applique transparencies hangs above the congregation to suggest the descent of God's spirit through Mary. A flower in her womb represents emerging new life. The red streamers bearing flowers are added to the pieces at Christmas to signify Christ's birth. The design was inspired by the work of Robert Strobridge, whose panels of figures enclosed the worship space at St. Leo's church, Milwaukee, in the 1980s.
