Most of the pages on this web site contain historical information about the development of the families of the people of the United States of America.   No one person can claim credit for all of the research which has been required to collect the data which I have analyzed and am disseminating on this web site.  Other than my personal research, inherited information which my parents researched, and sometimes information from the books of the Sigler Family Organization edited by Robert Howard Sigler and Gregory L. Watson, I have given credit for my sources.  If an author does not give credit to his or her sources then the author not only takes credit for the source's correct information but also for the source's mistakes.  That would be unfair to both the source and the author.  This is our history and is meant to be read and disseminated by anyone who desires to do so.  However, if material from this web site is copied, printed, and/or published on other web sites, in books, or in research papers it would be very much appreciated if I and this web site were given credit as being the most immediate source for the material. Passing The Torch

There are many reasons why a person searches his beginnings.  We feel that every family ought  to be blessed with someone who keeps names and relationships straight.  It was so with the family of Israel.  The chronicler believed that it was important to keep a record of who was who.  I do not know whether this is the beginnings of genealogies, but if God saw that it was important enough to be included in the Bible, we feel that we should keep the lines straight for those who follow us.   We have searched diligently and the following records and statements are correct to the best of our knowledge.  While Willie Joe was at Murray, he began to ask questions about the family which we could not answer, so we began our search which has been a joy and has increased our respect for those who have gone before us. ----- Robert Henry Sigler (1917-1996)

Actually, my interest in family history began in high school while looking through county history books in the library.  That led to research in the reference section of the public library and finally to the questions about which dad comments.   Dad and mom had the time and money to do the research and I had the never ending questions and sometimes a little bit of information collection and analysis expertise learned in college and in the military.  Dad and mom spent countless hours and made numerous trips all over Kentucky and other states in the southeastern United States in their quest for information.

When you click on the Tree Charts hyperlink at the top of this page, you will be transported to a genealogical chart index page which contains the surnames and associated charts of many of my ancestors.  There are also hyperlinks to  the charts  at the top of the index page.  The purpose of this section is to show the relationships of the surnames.

When you click on the Families hyperlink at the top of this page, you will be transported to an alphabetical list of surnames of many of my ancestors.   When you click on a surname, you will find yourself on a family page which lists the names, birth and death years, burial county, spouse, marriage, and marriage county of many of my ancestors.

When you click on the Photo Album hyperlink at the top of this page, you will be transported to a page that contains thumbnails of my parents, grandparents, and six of my eight great grandparents.  If you click on the thumbnails, you will get a larger and clearer view of the pictures.  If you have other photographs which you feel would add to the story in the photo album, email them to me as .jpg files or by regular mail.  Email me for my snail mail address.

When you click on the Cemeteries hyperlink at the top of this page, you will be transported to a page that contains a list of the cemeteries where my ancestors are buried.  Information about the cemeteries and the ancestors buried in them are listed.

If you find something in which you have an interest, email me at wjtjd@bellsouth.net.  This telephone number is used for data only and does not have a telephone installed on it.  I have several volumes of material about my ancestors and many of their descendants.   Sources include court house records, grave markers, family Bibles, interviews, and library research.

There is currently no charge for the information that I have.  This is something which my father passed on to me at his death and which he shared with others during his lifetime.

AHNENTAFEL

This is a method of indexing a person's ancestors using a mathematical formula to indicate relationships.  It is German in origin is also known as Standard Ancestor Numbering.  Multiply the person's number by two (2n) to determine the number of the person's father.  Multiply the person's number by two and add one (2n+1) to determine the number of the person's mother
