MARCH 2002

NEXT MEETING:

COMMUNITY CRIME WATCH SIGN UP SLATED

for Saturday, March 23rd, 2002. The sign up will be held in the Shamrock Neighborhood Park on Jeff St. Noon until 3:00 pm
Our official Crime Watch sign-up has been set for the above date. It is imperative that a majority of households in our community stop by to sign up at that time. Should it be raining, the sign up will take palce in the basement of Saint Luke Methodist Church on Shamrock across from Shamrock Garden Elementary. We have 237 households in the area from Springway and including Airlie, we need 119 households to be represented in the sign up to qualify for neighborhood watch signs for all this area.

What signing up asks and means to you!!

By just dropping by and signing up, you are helping us to establish a Crime Watch area. You will sign your name and address in police presence on that date to state your willingness to support crime watch. There will be no dues, ore special commitment on your part other than to be willing to keep your eyes open and report to 911 any suspicious behavior or circumstances. Although we will have periodic meeting, you will not be required to attend. However, it is always good to have good representation at the meetings.

A LOT OF GAIN FOR LITTLE EFFORT!

1. Crime Watch signs posted at the ends of each street will warn criminals that we are watching for suspicious activities in our neighborhood.
2.Block captains will keep you informed of criminal activity you should be aware of and will be available for you to call for help and support in keeping our area safe.
3. Periodic meetings will be held, where you can discuss with neighbors and police any concerns you have about our community.
4. Neighbors will be watching out for you and your property as youa re doing the same for them.
5. Police will take our concens more seriously as they will know we are doing "our" part to fight Crime
6. There will be a newletter keeping you aware of crime statistice and importatn concerns in our communicty.

With our neighborhood listed as "threatened" can we afford to stay home??

ALTHOUGH Residential Burglaries are up 17% county wide, the occurrences in our crime watch area have been reduced greatly!! Let us keep our eyes and ears open!!

WATCH YOUR MAIL!!

Kids have been stealing mail out of mail boxes in the area. Use Direct-Deposit where possible and take check payments to a mail drop box!! Police have caught several teens with mail on them!!
Call David Witt at (704) 537-2945 if you have questions.

We have a great neighborhood but we need to work together to keep it save and make it better!

Help prevent Truancy and Crime by reporting Studentwho should be in school to 911. It is suspected that most of our break-ins have been by students skippin school. Call and report them if you see them on the street when they should be in school. Tell the dispatcher that you do not want to see the officer and they will not stop at your house, that way the students will have no idea who reported them.
