Neighborhood Watch:    Palmspringwatch@aol.com          http://www.hometown.aol.com/Palmspringwatch

Have you guys seen our new, improved web-site? Thanks to Joe for doing such a bang-up job on it! You can access the news letter, crime stats etc. We now have a new yahoo group for crime watch, which you can access & join through the website! If you see anything suspicious or have a crime- related concern, join & let everyone know! I came late to the computer age, but what a communications tool against crime.

There will be  a Community Crime-Watch Meeting @ 7:30  on  Thursday  evening, July, 14th , 2005 at   St. Luke  United  Methodist Church on Shamrock. Make every effort to attend, we need your involvement! We will be firming up plans for Night Out & reviewing the latest crime stats!

Thanks to Pikes Pharmacy for donating their copy machine & supplies for the newsletter! In turn please support your local pharmacy & also other businesses in the neighborhood- we’re all in this together! They have also provided a link to our web site!

                NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

                    TUE. AUG. 2     @ 7:30

We will be celebrating National Night Out along with neighborhood watches all over the country on the above date & would encourage all of you to participate as a show of community. The purpose of this event is to: heighten crime awareness / generate support for our local anti- crime program /strengthen neighborhood spirit & community- police partners /send a message to criminals letting them know we are organized & fighting back.

What is planned :First, our goal is for every house in the in the watch area to have a glow light lantern burning on their porches, mailboxes, etc. Block captains will be going door to door asking for your participation & hopefully asking for a .65 donation towards the cause. I will order extras for those streets without block captains – contact me & I’ll drop one off to you. These glow lights are fire-safe – simply snap them in the middle, hang on your door, mailbox, whatever! (will glow 6-7 hours)  The more glow lights burning, the stronger the message to criminals that we will not tolerate illegal activities in our community – please participate! I will need orders by mid- July – 20th at the latest!

Second: We encourage you to walk your block with your block captain, with all blocks meeting each other at the park for refreshments & maybe a pot- luck picnic. We will start around 7:30 – will leave it up to block captains as to how they will coordinate this.  We will discuss at the meeting.

--  that’s it -  great job, let’s keep it rolling! School is out for summer, but keep an eye out for suspicious school age teens. Have a neighbor look after your house, get the paper etc. while on vacation! Alert – sexual activity has been observed in the park, along with used condoms – call 911 first, then alert your Block Captain.  Join the yahoo group on the website as well to communicate with other neighbors – this type of activity in our park will not be tolerated!
