Original Meeting Success
The initial meeting of the Palm Spring Crime Watch was a success. We met at St. Luke Methodist
Church on November 5th. There were over 50 people in attendance! The initial meeting was to
discuss the crime problems in our area and give Officer Christy Baucom feedback. the group
seemed to be motivated to talk with neighbors about getting involved in order to get an active
Crime Watch organized. The decision was made to try and get Hilliard Drive and cross streets
to join our Watch. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Nove.20th, at St.Luke's 7:30 pm is the time
of the meeting. Talk with your neighbors and plan to be present.
Our neighborhood is now categorized as "Threatened" by Crime, we can make a difference!

Truant Kids suspected in area break-ins, Suggestions!
It's believed that much of our crime is generated by truant kids. They are breaking in and
taking things they can carry in their pockets leaving larger more valuable items. If you see
kids on the street when school is in please do one of the following:
| 1. |
Call 911 and tell them there are kids on the street during school hours
and that our neighborhood has experienced burglaries believed to have been
committed by kids and they look to be up to mischief. Ask them to send a
car out to check it out and tell them you do not need to see the officer.
(This will keep the police from stopping at your house and the kids will have
no idea who called the police.) We have been told they will take the kids back to school. |
| 2. |
Call Garinger High School(704-343-6450) and ask to speak with Officer Cuthbertson, Their
Resource Officer, if he is available, he will come out and get them. The
Principal, Mr Michael Turner, is always interested in hearing from concerned neighbors concerning
problems with the school or it's students. |
It is suggest you call 911 first then if no response, try the school. We will help the students by
keeping them in school and the word will get out that our neighborhood is on the Watch!
HINTS TO PREVENT BREAK-INS
1. Install and use alarms, if possible, most homes getting hit do not have alarm systems.
Those that do usually scare off the burglars before they get in.
BELLSOUTH SECURITY SYSTEMS FROM PROTECTION ONE. came to our last meeting and are available at
704-567-2529 for sales. Ask for John.
2. Install Deadbold Locks and do not leave the keys in them! Place keys close enough
so you can get out in an emergency but where they can not be reached by intruders.
3. Keep shrubbery trimmed low away from windows and outside lights on at night.
4. Notify your neighbors when you are going out of town. either stop mail and papers
or have someone pick them up for you.
5.   Secure out-buildings and vehicles.
6.   Call 911 for ALL suspcisious circumstances.
GOOD NEIGHBOR LIST
The GOOD NEIGHBORS' LIST will list all participants in the PALM SPRING CRIMEWATCH, with names addresses

meeting and then distributed. Please call your neighbors if you notice anything suspicious as well as
911. Please note descriptions of individuals you notice under suspicious situations also make models,
