IN THE 70’S

The Chase Manhattan Bank calls the office of Bright & Fish and reports a barge has been lost and can we help them find it.  We are told that the barge holds an uninsured $4,000,000 crane that has been stolen from US waters.  Bright & Fish mount a search and rescue mission that results in the barge being found on an island populated by the San Blas Indians of Panama.  The natives, claiming maritime salvage rights of the seas, demand $50,000 for the return of the barge and crane.  Bright & Fish negotiate the amount down to $5,000 and oversee the return of the vessel and it’s multimillion-dollar cargo to the mainland US.

Bright & Fish are recognized as the premier startup and turnaround company in Latin America.  A Danish corporation Hemple, with 5 companies operating in the maritime and wholesale sector of the Panama Free Trade Zone, is about to go out of business.  The multinational corporation hires Bright & Fish to turnaround their struggling companies.  Mr. Bright takes the assignment and assumes management of all 5 companies simultaneously.  He transforms the companies into strong viable businesses.  When the assignment ends, it requires 5 hand picked managers to run the same operation that Mr. Bright managed as one.

IN THE 80’s

The US embassy in Panama calls Bright & Fish and requests an urgent meeting.  At this meeting the US ambassador explains that the recently initiated Caribbean Basin Initiative has been bogged down and no Panamanian companies are utilizing this benefit.  Bright & Fish implement a strategy that results in hundreds of Panamanian companies exporting to the US.  Some of these sectors include the textile industry, seafood, agriculture, manufacturing and arts and crafts.

In the late 80’s, during the worst of the Noriega dictatorship, Mr. Bright takes an assignment with Mossack Fonseca, one of the worlds most prestigious law firms. The firm has offices in 20 countries.  As the firm’s corporate general manager, he leads them through the toughest economic times in the history of Panama.  A Chamber of Commerce led general strike almost destroys the business sector, 150 major international banks close and reopen with onerous restrictions, and unemployment soars to a staggering 50%.   Under Mr. Bright’s leadership, the superior service that has characterized Mossack Fonseca continues for the firm’s 10,000 worldwide clients.

Disaster is averted when the Vu-Flow Filter Company hires Mr. Bright.  Vu-Flow, the world’s largest manufacturer of lawn care filters and agricultural filters has been sold.  The present years numbers will determine the amount of the sale.  The companies largest OEM (Rainbird) has notified the company that it will no longer do business with them.  Mr. Bright replaces the OEM with a larger account (Atlanta based American Gramby), establishes an effective manufacturers rep network and opens up markets in Canada, Latin America and in Australia.  Sales soar 60% higher and the value of the Melbourne, Florida based company increases.

IN THE 90’s

In the early 90’s, Allied Fidelity, a major bonding insurance company, domiciled in Indiana, goes out of business.  The State of Indiana’s Insolvency Board is burdened with the recovery of millions of dollars from Allied Fidelity debtors.  The problem, most of the debts are 10-15 years old.  Until they retain the services of Dolande & Marine, they are throwing away money by the hiring of high priced attorneys.  Mr. Bright, working with Insolvency Board official Jack Mahoney, is able to find a loophole that allows debts this old to be pursued.  Dolande & Marine is able to secure settlements on almost all of the construction companies that still remain in business.

A Texas based airfreight company is defrauded by US and foreign freight forwarders, which causes the airline to go into bankruptcy.  The company hires Dolande & Marine to recover funds due the company.  Mr. Bright is able to track the perpetrators throughout Europe and when it is found that they have been conducting an ongoing criminal enterprise, Mr. Bright working with US and European authorities is able to mobilize law enforcement to arrest and try these individuals.

Dolande & Marine’s reputation grows as the premier service in the world for recovery of debt.  Soon collection agencies and attorneys are requesting their services.  Several former employees of collection agencies leave their firms seeking to start their own agencies.  They request that Dolande & Marine handle their accounts. Mr. Bright automates the collection firms, hires, and trains and writes all their documentation including scripts.

OPIC, the US’s provider of overseas insurance for exports, retains the services of Dolande & Marine in pursuing cases throughout Latin America.  OPIC provides bank guarantees on exports up 85% of the value of goods.  Mr. Bright’s efforts are successful and funds are recovered.

The Canadian governments version of OPIC hears about Dolande & Marine and retains their services.  Recovery is made against US and foreign companies defaulting on their obligations.

The Panamanian government’s office for the registry of maritime ships (Panama is the largest registrar of vessels in the world) is owed $350,000,000 by worldwide shipping companies. Dolande & Marine is called into consult and Mr. Bright designs a recovery program still in use today.

IBM is owed large sums in Argentina and Panama.  Mr. Bright investigates and uncovers fraud in Argentina and IBM and Argentinean government officials are tried and convicted.  In Panama, IBM just mentions the name of Mr. Bright and the Social Security Ministry pays a $2,000,000 debt owed for over 5 years.
