Mr. Bright’s long and distinguished career has been characterized by
ethics and dedication to hard work. In
his speeches he often sites his greatest strength and weakness as one and
the same. He does not know when
to quit and is always prepared to take on the tasks that others claim they
cannot do, cannot be done, or will not do.
His career has not only been in the field of business but in the political
arena. He was a leader in the
fight against Panamanian dictator Noriega in the 80’s.
He was beaten, tortured, jailed and exiled twice.
Yet he never gave in to the bribes offered or the force used against
him. He is often asked if he
regretted not taking the 10 million dollar bride offered him by a Noriega
supporter in exchange for his silence against the regime.
Not one second, of one day, in my life he responds.
In the mid 90’s, the US and Panamanian work force that staffed the US
military bases and operate the Panama Canal asked him to intercede on their
behalf. For five years he led
the fight to maintain US bases in Panama, and to maintain the US/Panamanian
partnership in the Canal. He
was credited with getting negotiations
started, stopping the Panamanian led attempts to lower wages for Panamanians
working in the Canal, identified corruption that led to criminal
investigations, uncovered the Chinese takeover of the US built ports and
functions of the Panama Canal. His
work resulted in multiple Congressional investigations.
His contacts in Washington spanned the political spectrum from former
Conservative Senator Jesse Helms to Liberal Senators like John Kerry and Bob
Graham.
The US government seeks Mr. Bright’s advice on economic and political
matters regarding the Americas. He
has appeared on all the major networks and cable news sites.
His interview on Ted Koppel’s Nightline was one of the key factors
sited by the US government to finally impose economic and political
sanctions on the Noriega dictatorship.
Mr. Bright learned his trade as an international startup/turnaround
specialist. He was the youngest
manager in the history of the second largest free trade zone in world
located in Panama. He also was
introduced as the youngest member of Lions’ Club in the world.
He is a man of firsts both in his professional and public life.
Mr. Bright has resided in Melbourne Florida since 1988.
