Early 2000's. Memphis--Shelby Forest State Park, latitude 35 17' 30" N and longitude 90 05' 00" W, one nest (Martha Waldron). 2006. March 30 (1 female) circling over the Loosahatchie Bottoms along I-40 (Roseanna Denton). June, in area of White Lake Refuge (pair nesting), photographs obtained by Larry Walker (Nancy Moore). August 13 (2 adults and 2 immatures) Mud Lake, Memphis, photographs obtained by Mike Todd, not known to have nested here (Mike Todd, Jeff Wilson). 2008. April 8, photographed adult male in a small secluded pond just north of the Hatchie Bottoms in the hill country near Brownsville, Haywood County. The bird was found with wings spread, drying on an old snag and then flew to the top of a Poplar Tree to preen (Jeff Wilson). | This very distant (approximately 1/2 mile) shot shows the pair of adult Anhingas that were present at Mud Lake, Shelby County, Tennessee, on August 13, 2006, along with two immature birds. This is quite a gathering of Anhingas in Tennessee. |

| This is one of two immature Anhingas along with two adults that were seen at Mud Lake, Shelby County, Tennessee, on August 13, 2006. Though tough to tell from this angle, from the back the young birds had limited gray instead of extensive while markings on the upperparts. |
