Duchess Deirdre inghean ui Thighearnain
Duchess Deirdre is a citizen of Meridies and currently resides in the Shire of Sol Haven. She has been in the SCA many years and became my apprentice in April of 2003. Her main area of study is Central Asian dance, particularly Kichean and Tang. Her interests also include pottery, researching the costumes of Central Asia, drumming and cooking.
Duchess Deirdre has entered many arts and sciences competitions over the years. Some of her entries in recent years have included Turkish Shadow puppets, 3 Kingdom A&S dance entries (2005, 2006, and 2008), pottery entries in regional and Kingdom faires (2004) and a pottery display at Kingdom A&S in 2008 on her first attempt at a period firing method. Her Grace has always scored well and in her last dance entry achievied a perfect score! She has taught classes extensively. She teaches on dance, pottery, cooking, costuming, and many other subjects. She can most often be found teaching, working in kitchens or running some activity. Deirdre has performed numerous times in the SCA participating in the Middle Eastern Dance Expo at Gulf Wars, performing with Tribe Zareefat, and can often be seen performing at Haflas around the Kingdom.
