For any and all who, constrained by the bounds of proper etiquette, deem it unfit to enter into discourse without proper invitation, please be so kind as to lend an ear to the following words.
I would deem it an honor and a privilege to converse with any who share my interest in this portion of history. Should I possess any knowledge new to yourself, please show no hesitation in asking for my meager offering. Should you be more noble and learned than I, or be privy to any information which would increase my store of knowledge about this event, I should gratefully appreciate your advise. Should you have any thoughts or perusings, I should be honoured to be deemed worthy to hear them.
I am earnestly and especially desirous of learning the identities of all those brave citizens who fought in, or were associated with, this battle, be they Whig or Tory. Many Patriots applied for well-earned pensions as a result of their honorable service to their country. These pension applications are filled with details of their glorious encounters. Their descendents should be attentive to references to the Battle of Shallow Ford, as also to mention of a battle at or near the Yadkin/Adkin/Atkin River.
Be it known to all who are of the Loyalist persuasion that a full and unconditioned pardon has been granted (for their deluded misconduct) by the Magistrate of the District, and they need have no fear of reprisal in coming forth.
Should any possess (dare I hope it?) that greatest of all undiscovered treasures, in an attic or undisturbed trunk, a diary or letters filled with long-forgotten details of this time, I should tremble and be quite overcome with excitement!
