From: Roelie Oelofse Subject: Re: Using Noteworthy as choral training tapes. Date: Thursday, September 02, 1999 0:06 Warren, I use NWC for choir practice all the time, and I find that the choir oohs irritates my ears. For the higher voices I normally use the flute, and bassoon or oboe for the bass voices. When I start learning the piece I will leave off all dynamics and solo the staff (Eric I would still love a solo button on the toolbar next to the mute button) until I know it well enough. I then bring in the other voices, but play it softer than my part and eventually do the mix properly with all voices and proper dynamics. I you plan to make practice tapes for other choristers without access to a computer, pan the desired part to the one side and the rest on the other side. This allows the person to use a stereo tape player and pan left or right to isolate his part or listen to all the voices, or try and hold his/her own against the other voices. When you set the pans, I found it much better to use a Midi Multi Point controller's Stereo Pan function. Do not try and change the midi properties of the staff. Roelie The Magnificat files have a playback level of 100 rather than the default of 127. Another option is to increase the playback level of your part to 127 so it will stand out. This may be a problem in the Gloria since the orchestration is at full volume. Please let me know of any errors you find in these files. I have already made a change in MagSiGlo that Bob Shivers pointed out. 10/17 9:35 pm. wbport@bellsouth.net Have added TeDeum to the website. This is work in progress; have done half of it and will add text later. 10/19 1pm
