George W. Walterhouse was the first child of the marriage of Philip Benjamin Walterhouse and Rebecca Mapes. Philip and Rebecca were married on 24 September 1848 in Marion Co. OH. George was born in June of 1850.
The 1850 census of Blanchard Twp., Hancock Co. OH records "Philip Watterhouse, age 47, farmer, born Canada; Rebecca, age 24, born OH; Sylas, age 14, born Canada; Margaret M., age 12, born Canada and George W., age 3/12, born OH.
The 1860 census of Washington Twp. Paulding Co. OH records " Philip Walterhouse, not decipherable, farmer, born Canada; Rebecca, age 34, born OH; George W. age 10, born OH; Joseph, age 8, born OH; Almina, age 6, born OH and Charles, age 3, born OH".
The 1870 census of Center Twp. Marshall Co. IN records a "Walterhouse, George, age 20, works on farm, born OH" in the household of Thomas Bowser, farmer, born OH and his wife Lydia and eight others.
No further information is found for George.
When Joseph Lewis died in 1904 his obituary stated that he had 1 surviving brother. His brothers were George W. and Charles. We know Charles was alive in 1904 so he perhaps was the surviving brother. George may have been deceased by 1904.
