
Eliza Catherine Walterhouse
Eliza Catherine Walterhouse, the fifth child of Philip Benjamin Walterhouse and Mary Alice Morris, was born in 1842 in Fingal, Elgin, Ontario Canada.
Eliza was one of the children left behind in Canada when Philip immigrated to the U. S. She is to be found in the 1851 census of Southwold Twp. Elgin Co. Ontario Canada on page 153 in the household of Wm. Taylor, blacksmith, born Canada West, Baptist, age 28 and his wife Mary, age 22.There are three Taylor children listed as well as "Eliza Waterhouse, born Canada, age 9, not a resident, attending school".
Eliza married Elisha Teal in 1863 as documented in the "County Marriage Registers, Ontario Canada 1858-1869 (Lincoln and Welland Counties), page 116: "Teal, Elisha, 21, Bertie, born Scotland, son of William and Mary married 29 October 1863 Eliza Catherine Walterhouse, 20, Bertie, Canada West, daughter of Philip and Alice Marie".
Eliza and her husband had at least one daughter. They visited in the US with Isreal at some point in time and had their photograph made together.
She and her family can be found in the 1881 census of Bertie, Welland Co.Ontario Canada. At that time her family included Eliza age 37, her husband Elisha Teal and the following children: Lafayette age 17, Leslie age 16, John age 13, Alice age 11, Robert age 9, Artha age 5, Willie age 3 and Arnold under 1 year.
Eliza died 31 May 1917 in Ridgeway,Welland Co. Ontario Canada.
