ORIGIN

In 1983, Dr. Mable B. Anderson established the Ensley / Pratt / Moro Park Flood Coalition to address flooding problems in Village Creek.  Dr. Anderson was joined by John C. Meehan, of Ensley in the late 1980's.  In 1998, VCS was founded and organized by the above persons

Village Creek has given so much to the people of Birmingham and Jefferson County.  Village Creek was once a source of drinking water in Birmingham, now it is one of the most polluted creeks in Alabama.  It is this history that we owe the responsibility to do our part and become stewards of the Village Creek watershed.
