Interests Art. I am taking Art in my school for the third time this year. This is considered to be Art III. While I am in the same room with the Art I and Art II students, I generally do drastically different work than the Art I students, but similar work to the Art II students. I have practiced pencil, charcoal, and pen and ink drawing, calligraphy, and watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting. Of these, my favorites are drawing with charcoal and painting with oil. Some of my work can be viewed on this site's art gallery. Photography. Although I have no official training or currently even decent photography equipment, I much enjoy taking pictures. I will put some of my favorites on the site. They may not always be of the highest image quality or even have a great artistic look to them, but for some reason I must like them. Martial Arts. When I was younger, I practiced Shotokan Karate. After a too-short time of taking that class, I decided to take a break over the summer. Unfortunately, when I was ready to return in the fall, my parents decided that I shouldn't continue the class. I hadn't been good at all, but I did enjoy being there, so I missed it. This year, a friend persuaded me to visit his Mang Ho class. Mang Ho is a combination of several more established forms, including Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu, Jujitsu, and Aikido. It was created by Grandmaster Jay Blanton. Visiting the class made me remember how much I had enjoyed taking the Shotokan class, and I soon joined. I hold a white belt in this class, and will continue to for some time due to lack of skill. Automobiles. Although I respect all makes, I have a strong preference for German vehicles. My first car was 1986 Porsche 944. It had been my mother's car for several years and she gave it to me when I turned 16. She bought a used 1998 BMW 528i. Learning to drive in a manual Porsche is an experience not known by many people, and I'm grateful for it. However, maintenance on a Porsche is expensive, and I didn't have a job yet, so I sold the Porsche and bought a 1988 BMW 325is. It is more powerful, faster, and supposedly handles as well or better than the Porsche, but it still isn't quite the same to me. I hope to sell the BMW some day to bring the Porsche back home. |
