Saturday, Feb. 7

I'm finally getting around to putting up some pictures (Page 1, 2, 3) of my new car, a 1992 BMW 535i, 5spd. It's black with a black interior (fairly rare) and heated seats (even more rare). About 5% of the E34 5 series had manual transmissions, so I was pretty lucky to get ahold of this car. It has currently almost 107,000 miles. Also, here are some pictures from a drive we had at a BMW meet today.

Saturday, Jan. 17

We had a BMW meet today in Chattanooga; here are the pictures.

Monday, Jan. 4

I received my Powershot S50 a few days ago, then its case (LowePro Z1 - very nice) arrived (in the mailbox, oddly), so I've had time to play with them a bit. I'm still waiting on my 256 MB CF card, but it'll be worth the wait and price, I hope.  I've posted several good pictures in the BMW E39 photo album, since that's nearly all I've taken pictures of. Here are a couple of my non-BMW favorites.

Monday, Dec. 29

I decided on the Powershot S50 and ordered it, along with a 256MB Kingston SLC (high-speed) compact flash card, and a carrying case, Saturday. I actually ended up putting very little money into the whole deal, by using pricegrabber for everything. I even got a nice CF card reader from Wal-Mart free, using a gift card given to me by the owners of the restaurant at which I work. It took going around in Chattanooga to different places trying out the S50 and DSC-V1 to make me decide, but I like the S50 better when actually holding it, and, of course, it's cheaper.

Friday, Dec. 26

I keep noticing in my gostats records that there's someone visiting the site from the Chattanooga area, and found the site by searching for "e30 pictures" on Google. I live near Chattanooga, so whoever you are, maybe you're another BMW enthusiast in the area? You'll have to attend Sharkfest this year. Email me. Link is at the left. In other news, I got enough money for Christmas to get a digital camera, and I'll have to decide whether to get a Canon Powershot S50 (well, unless I'm still undecided when they start releasing their expected 20 new compact digicams this year) or a Sony DSC-V1 (I like the lense (Carl Zeiss) better, and the fact that it will record video at 640x480 until it runs out of memory instead of just preset lengths. The downsides of this camera include the fact that it's about $100 more expensive than the S50, it's silver (I think the black S50 looks better), and its continuous shot mode only lets you do 3 shots at a time, less than half what the S50 lets you do. I don't know whether being able to take quite a few full-quality shots in a row is more important than long video clips. Then, the DSC-V1 is very, very quick at focusing in nearly all situations, bringing that shutter lag down to an unmatchable level, taking less than half as long as the S50 to autofocus and snap a shot. Oh, how I hate decisions like this!

Tuesday, Dec. 23

I just finally got back the digital pictures I took of my artwork. This will mean the addition of both an oil and an other category, along with additions to the calligraphy page.

Saturday, Dec. 13

Well, I am no longer a BMW owner. Today, I sold the 88 325is to someone who will hopefully appreciate it as much as I have and take good care of it as I have. I will still at least get to see it parked at school. In other news, I've caught, apparently, the same cold or flu bug that everyone else in my area has, and I was too sick to take the ACT again this morning. Had I taken it, I'm sure I would have scored lower than my previous score (33). Maybe I can still get into a decent school.

Thursday, Dec. 4

Well, I now have two jobs. While still working at a steakhouse, I will today begin working at an office supply store/print shop. It is something that I will enjoy doing, and hopefully will learn a good deal about business from.

Thursday, Nov. 27

Although I don't really hate ham, I think everyone should have turkey for Thanksgiving. It tastes so much better to me, and everyone should want to eat and have some nice turkey-induced sleep afterward.

Wednesday, Nov. 26

Interstate 24 really needs 3 lanes. I could barely get to 60 m.p.h. today on the way to work. Also, older people shouldn't drive if they can't drive well enough to keep up with the flow of traffic.
