Adventure
The other day Laurel and I
were in Paducah, Ky. We were there for dinner and a show. While in town
we sometimes go down to the waterfront to view the river and the murals
along the flood wall.
While there we saw a very small black brown sailing
ship. We investigated and found out that we were looking at the "Nina".
(A copy to scale of one of Columbus' ships.) We paid our dues and
boarded the ship. We immediately realized, the wonder of the Adventurers
of the 1700 hundreds. The ship was tiny, you could load it twice on the
back of a semitrailer truck. I wonder at Columbus crossing the ocean knowing
that he and his crew would fall over the water falls (at the edge) on the
western sunset. The ship had space enough for one sleeping cabin, the other
eighty men would have to sleep on deck. Everything below deck was rigging
and food.
Can you imagine me saying
that I am going to ride a rocket into space. I'll be back in five years
when I find a decent place to live. Everyone says that I am going over
the edge, falling into the black hole of space. Some things never change.
I want my sons and daughters to go into space and explore the Universe.
You are a creature of skill. Go on an Adventure.
