HI! I'm Mike, sometimes referred to as "Poppa Bear". I live in south Louisiana (New Iberia) with my lover Dan. We've been together since August 1990. You can find out more about him by clicking on his name (Dan) to the left.

I've got two children from my previous marriage. Shawn, my daughter is married and has two beautiful girls. (I love being a grand Poppa!) She has a degree in eduction and  is a teacher at the local high school.

My son Shane works at a building supply house, and his wife is a high school teacher. They also have a little girl and a little birdy recently told us they are going to try for a boy.

We also have two miniature dachsunds, Sophie and Gabbie. There are some old pictures here of our previous dachsund, Schnitzel who passed away in 2006. We are definitely dog people.

Dan and I own a house here in New Iberia. It's been interesting watching the reactions from people in this mid-sized town. There are VERY few openly gay couples here, and even less who invest in real estate together and make long range plans as a family. I don't think most of them know how to react to us. I feel like it's our duty to live a normal life without worrying about other peoples reactions. It took a while for the town to warm up to us, but finally things seem "normal" around here. There are very few awkward moments these days.
