The people of Ogden showed us some wonderful hospitality! Whether we were dining out, or on the slopes, touring the museums or visiting the malls, this small town graciously rolled out the red carpet for us. There was not a single place we went that was not friendly and welcoming.

We stayed at the OGDEN MARRIOTT. The rooms are spacious and since we were on the ground floor, we had a sliding glass door that opened into the courtyard. Historic 25th Street was a short walk out the back door of the hotel.

Our favorite restaurant was (I hope the name is correct) The ATHENIAN RESTORANT. We love Greek food and this was very good. We ate here several times. This building is on 25th St. and was the London Ice Cream Parlor building in 1882. LA FERROVIA RISTORANT, offers very good Italian food on 25th Street. We also ate at ROOSTERS BREWING CO. Neither one of us liked their food. Ron didn't even enjoy any of the beers, which he normally takes great pleasure in sampling.

SNOWBASIN, at the beginning of December, was uncrowded and a very enjoyable resort. They are preparing for the 2002 Olympics with many changes. I'm sure, if we ever return, it will no longer resemble the quiet place we visited.
When you go, make sure you get to the resort via the new road (Hwy 167). The other road, Hwy 226, is a scary nightmare. It's steep, narrow, and curvy with no side railing or markers to keep you from plunging down the mountain side.

As you enter the mountains from 12th street, from Ogden, you will see a beautiful waterfall on the left. When we went, it was half frozen and half flowing. It was a magnificent site.
We also stopped to watch people ice fishing. They had the words "hooked on fishing" etched in the ice. Definitely something we southerners never see.
Don't pass up a chance to go to Ogden Union Station. It only cost $3 to tour all 4 museums. The retired volunteers were very knowledgeable about Ogden's history. Very much worth spending some time here.
