It's well nigh impossible to drive around Scotland without enjoying some of the most awe-inspiring views.

A place where you can relive the domestic life of the 16th and 17th centuries amid old building and cobbled streets, view renaissance splendors of Royal Palaces and sophisticated castles with their spectacular towers. A place where you may find yourself a little wilted after the battles (or the walks) at many of the castles, but they are very much worth the effort.

With Ron by my side, who is always good-natured enough to enter into a conversation with anybody whom he meets, touring Scotland was a dream come true. We were there for 2 weeks, one of which he was teaching an IBM class in Greenock. Our visit took us to South Central Scotland, with its beautiful seaside and historic and modern towns, dotted throughout the Clyde Valley. In addition, East Central Scotland with its grand Edinburgh Castle dominating the capital's skyline.

Different? You bet it was!
· Cashiers sit down to checkout people in grocery stores. Their system is really neat.
· The shoulder of the road is called a lay by.
· You don't order food "to go", you order take away
· Cotton Candy is Cotton Floss
· You don't "come back soon", you hurry ye back.
· They have the cutest elderly crossing signs on the road!
· Scotland has the smoothest flowing traffic, with their roundabouts, such that the USA has never seen. Roads are extremely well marked.
I say, "Come on America, get with the times."
