We stayed in the Irving/Las Colinas area, about 15 miles from downtown
Dallas. Our accommodations were at the friendly HILTON GARDEN INN LAS COLINAS.
We ate all of our meals in Irving. Our most intriguing dining spot was the COOL RIVER CAFE on Hidden Ridge Road. Our meal consisted of Devil Creek Shrimp and Pork Tenderloin. This meal was delectable and if you don't mind spending $10 for a glass of wine and $20 for a plate of scrumptious food (more than we could eat) then this place is a must. Adjacent to the dining room you will find billiards, large screen TV's, and live entertainment. A very impressive place that we will definitely visit again. The TRAIL DUST STEAK HOUSE was great also. This is Texas! They have a country and western band, a dance floor and the best bar-b-que ribs. If Italian food is your taste, FRATELLI'S ITALIAN RESTAURANT was good. It's family owned and you can find it on MacArthur Blvd. |
I visited the DALLAS ZOO, which is 3 miles south of downtown Dallas. You
can't miss it, because there is a 67 foot giraffe statue at the entrance. I always enjoy zoos, small or large. At this zoo, I especially
liked the okapi, a beautiful animal from Africa.
