We no longer publish the college football rankings on this site. Fifty most-talented teams for the 2009 season: 1. Southern California (prediction based on talent alone 12-0) The most talent for the third consecutive season. 2. Florida (12-0) Tremendous talent, especially on offensive line and receiver, making any QB look good. 3. Texas (12-0) Classes of 2006 and 2007 are paying off. 4. Georgia (11-1) Easy recruiting in Georgia. 5. Louisiana State (10-2) A shoo-in with most of the top talent in the state. 6. Ohio State (11-1) Finally recruiting at a high level in consecutive years. 7. Notre Dame (12-0) Inexplicable how this team has lost so many games. 8. Michigan (10-2) Still a power in the Big Ten. 9. Oklahoma (10-2) Inconsistent classes the past 3 years. 10. Florida State (11-1) Decline of this dominating program more gradual than recent losses indicate. 11. Tennessee (10-2) Drops out of Top Ten for first time in 15 years. Had been most-talented for a decade. 12. Miami (Fla.) (10-2) Hard to believe the Hurricanes are this low. 13. Penn State (10-2) Remarkable consistency year-to-year. 14. Alabama (9-3) Perhaps the most overrated team, though improving. 15. Auburn (7-5) Schedule makes this an intriguing team to watch. 16. Pittsburgh (11-1) Returning to Beast of the East. 17. California (11-1) Second-best in the Pac-10. 18. Clemson (10-2) New coach inherits a lot of talent. 19. UCLA (9-3) Expectations should be higher as program returns to upper echelon of Pacific-10. 20. Mississippi (10-2) New coach continues to benefit from great classes of previous coach. Also benefits from easy schedule. 21. Nebraska 22. South Carolina 23. Texas A&M 24. Oklahoma State 25. North Carolina 26. Arizona 27. Illinois 28. Arizona State 29. Oregon 30. Washington 31.
