The Sports Report

The Sports Report

What is The Sports Report?

The Sports Report is the name of an entity that specializes in computer rankings and other statistical analysis systems.

How long has The Sports Report been around?

TSR has been around since 1987, when the first newspaper began publishing TSR rankings.

Should I have heard of The Sports Report or TSR before?

Probably not. The "other statistical analysis systems" are highly customized and highly proprietary. And there is additional code that is owned by TSR, but it is licensed to third parties, and you would probably never see it.

By the way, "highly experienced" computer people will sometimes talk of "TSRs," terminate-and-stay-ready programs. That's a different TSR.

Wasn't The Sports Report on America Online before? And why don't you have your own domain?

The Sports Report was on AOL for many years. The page is now hosted via home.bellsouth.net (as of summer 2005). As for the web address, we see no need to use a separate domain. Google and Yahoo will find the site, wherever we are.

Is The Sports Report copyrighted and/or trademarked?

Yes. The Sports Report was registered as a trademark in Georgia in 1986 and has been in use since then. Per U.S. patent law, the trademark applies nationally as well, since the Georgia filing becomes prima facie evidence of the trademark's use. Both a trademark (for the brand) and a service mark (for the web services) are claimed. In addition, all materials on this site are copyrighted.
