Tor's Ranting
Why
do some creators think that everyone wants to steal your ideas? Here's
an example from Spilled Milk
"I was leery enough to publish the company name and logos, but
all logos and names are in the process of being nationally registered
with the trademark registry". ...cmon. Every single image on
the site has a copyright note. I have two things to say about paranoid
artists.
1.) Legally: "immanent domain"
- you own the rights to your artwork completely the moment it is created.
The only time you lose your rights to your own artwork is if you are
aware someone else is using it without permission, and you fail to tell
them to stop. (ie...Calvin peeing on 1 out of 3 cars in the late 90's)
THAT'S IT. That is the ONLY way you can lose your art.
2.) Common Sense: No
one wants to rip off your worthless crap! There are thousands of artists
out there, millions of ideas. This phenomenon seems to be somehow connected
with the "Jim Lee" clone types, at least back in college it
did
