Apprenticeship & Training
The JATC is responsible for
indenturing and training Apprentices. The JATC also Provides
qualified instructors as well as upgrade training to keep these
instructors current with this rapidly
growing industry. Training is provided to apprentices as a four
year program covering the Sheet
Metal Industry from A to Z. The JATC also provides Journeyman
upgrade training for its members.
This is a vital asset to our Signatory Contractors, allowing
Journeyman members to enhance their
industry related skills that we regularly perform such as welding
,shop layout, HVAC fabrication
and installation, fabrication and installation of blowpipe,
Industrial ventilation systems, Installation
and maintenance of dust collection systems, lagging and many other
skills. Sheet Metal Workers
Local #5 also has an accredited welding facility in which members
can obtain welding certifications
for various welding procedures. Apprentices and Journeymen receive
this training at no cost to the
member. The Apprenticeship program is accredited by the U.S.
Department of Labor Bureau of
Apprenticeship and Training.
In order to procure work that
requires certified or trained employee's the Local Union can certify
its members in: OSHA-10, Scaffold, Industrial truck operation,
Hoisting and Rigging, 40 Hour
Hazmat, Aerial Lift and other types of training to assist the
Contractor.
