3 Years, 7 Months, 28 Days and 3 Hours......

That was the actual restoration time for my 1974 Sun Bug! I purchased this car new in August of '74, so I am the original owner. I still have all my paperwork, even down to the accessory list (not much of an accessory list 'cause all I added was a console). The Sun Bug provided transportation for me and my family up until 4 years ago when a lady took the front half of my car off!

That's when I had to make a decision to sell it to the insurance company for $1700 or start from scratch. I include this in my write up so you can understand why I took this one owner car and choose not to restore it as it was.

As you can see from the pics, you would not know it's a Sunbug by just looking at it, but trust me, it is. I've been in six shows (two of those are national shows) and the car has placed first in its class in all shows entered. VW Trends has shot the car, but who knows when and if it makes the magazine.

One of the changes I made was removing the "God Awful Factory Sunroof" - sorry but VW dropped the ball on that one - and replacing it with a sliding canvas one.

I've included a spec sheet if you're interested in the other particulars.
