"A Super Beetle Sun Bug. Restored in late '96, I got it in January '97. Restoration done by Lindy Herrell, of Herrell's VW Service, in Villa Rica, GA. Mr. Herrell had been driving along one day, and pulled up next to a tow truck with a Bug on it at a traffic light. He asked the driver if the car was for sale, and yes, it was. They pulled into a parking lot, and he bought it right there, thinking it would make a good parts car. When he got it back to his shop, he noticed a couple of interesting things about it. First, there were papers in the car showing that it had been impounded, and no one ever came to pick it up. It had probably been on its way to the crusher or auction, or wherever unclaimed cars go. Second, he discovered it was a Sun Bug, and had a solid body and pan. It was parked amongst other bugs, buses, Karmann Ghias and Things, waiting for someone to pick it out to be restored. It sat for about three years, until I came along. We decided to keep it as close to "stock" as possible. It has new paint, new interior, rebuilt stock 1600cc engine, and the original 'sport' wheels. The interior carpet is brown, and the seats are brown vinyl with cloth inserts."
