My Programs for the iQue 3600:
qBuddy:
qBuddy is going to be a very customizable utility to display various
information available from the gps.
The main concept
is the display cell. There will be 2 types, a general cell and specialized
cell. A general cell has 3 parts, a title, value and unit. You will be
able to choose the font for each part, the color, background color, number
of decimal places to show, maximum digits to show, turn the title off, turn
the unit off, justification of the parts (left, center, right), etc., and
of course what information you are displaying. You will be able to choose
all the information that is available directly from the api such as speed,
heading, vertical velocity, north velocity, east velocity, altitude MSL,
altitude WGS84, time, long, lat, etc. There will also be derived information
such as acceleration, max speed, trip time, trip distance, distance to waypoint,
bearing to waypoint etc.
A specialized cell can be anything I want to add that doesn't fit
into the title, value, and unit category.
The other concept is the page. A page is simply a collection of
display cells. You will be able to add pages and delete pages. You will
be able to have as many (or few) display cells as you want on a page. You
will be able to change the size of the display cells as well.
So right now the compass page is composed of 3 display cells, two
general cells (speed & bearing) and one specialized cell (the compass).
The speedometer screen is just one single general display cell, speed.
The GPSData page is just one specialized display cell.
As you can see I have a lot of work left to do, but once it's done
you should be able to configure it to do almost anything you want.
Other than qBuddy.prc
you will need to install FontBucket.prc if you want the speedometer screen
to be useful. You will also need to install at least one of the font files,
I would suggest arial to start with. To change the font on the speedometer,
select options then screen preferences. Each font file contains a lot
of different point sizes for that particular font. Once you decide which
fonts and font sizes you like you can delete the point sizes and fonts
you don't use to free up memory.
You can also use the FBConvert program to create a .pdb file of
any installed TrueType or OpenType font installed on your windows computer
and then use that with qBuddy (or any other FontBucket enabled app). Pretty
cool stuff!
Note: The really huge numbers (100 pt) are only available in the
arial and LED font files. I realized a change I need to make to the fonts
(create a fixed width for the numbers) and didn't want to have to redo all
of them.
