The Day of the Lord

To fully understand "THE JUDGEMENT DAY" , you must understand the meaning of "THE DAY OF THE LORD". Although JUDGEMENT DAY was a Day Of The Lord, it was not the only one, for there were many . The "DAY OF THE LORD" is a frequently used phrase in the Old and New Testaments. Israel had looked forward to the "Day Of The Lord" as a Day of Salvation , but Amos warned that it would be a day of affliction and misfortune for Israel(Amos 5:18-29)The day of the Lord was to be a victory over all his enemies (1Cor. 15:27; Eph 1:22; Heb 2:8). In view of her apostasy, Israel was numbered among those enemies (Amos 2:6-16).You can find "The Day Of The Lord" as a day of affliction(Amos 8:9; Isa. 2:12, 17, 19; Zeph. 1:14-16), a day of judgement against the nations (Against Babylon:Isa. 13: 6,9,13; Edom: Isa. 34:8; 63:4 ; Obad. 1:15; Egypt: Jer. 46:10; Ezek. 30:3; Philistines; Jer. 47:4), and a day of salvation calling for repentance (Isa 61:2; Joel 1:15; 2:1,2,11,32; 3:14,15; Zech. 14:1-9, 16-21; Mal. 3:2, 4:5).Jesus explained "The Day Of The Lord", which was his return, in this way; "For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day." (DAY OF THE LORD) (Lk. 17:24).Jesus explained his coming in this manner, to express to you the "suddenness" of his coming (Mal. 3:1; Mk. 13:36; Acts 2:2), and of the true Light that now shineth into every man that cometh into the world (1 Jn. 2:8; cf. Jn. 1:9; 8:12; 12:35,36). But before he could return, he had to be rejected by "that" generation (Lk. 17:25), which indeed he was. Jesus goes on to explain his Coming (Day Of The Lord) using the historical story of Noah and the flood: as and ensample (or type) (Lk. 17:26,27). In this ensample, he is given the condition of the world and the people, as he knew it would be, on his return. In it is Judgement of God (flood), the taking out of Gods people (the Ark), and the inheritance of Gods children, after man has been sentenced to death (the days of the flood). Jesus said, "and as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man" (Day Of The Lord). Jesus did not just grab this explanation out of a hat. He used it because it explained the mystery of his "coming".

To understand the occurrence of this story is to understand the second coming of Christ. Most teachers can not see this, but if you would notice, not so much his coming, but that which was taking place at his coming, you would see that just as Noah was warning the people of the coming wrath of God (DAY OF THE LORD), the same message was coming forth in the days of Christ. The warning, the wrath, and the establishment of the New Earth. "They did eat, they married wifes, they were given in marriage". In other words, they were only concerned with worldly things. Jesus said to Peter, "for thou savorest not the thing that be of God, but those that be of man (Matt. 16:23). This style of life was going on in the days of Noah, and this would be going on when Jesus led his "Sheep" into the "Ark" of safety. Of course, we know that the "Ark" was a "Boat" of sorts, in which Noah and his family were preserved from the wrath of God (JUDGEMENT). During the "Day Of The Lord", the "Family" of God entered into an "Ark" of safety. The "Flood" has subsided, the earth has dried, the "Family" has come forth, and God has established a "New Covenant" with his people.

To better understand this, understand that the world (the ungodly) are "without"(Mk. 4:11; 1 Cor. 5:12; 2 Cor. 11:28; Col. 4:5; 1Thess. 4:12; 1Tim. 3:7; Jn. 15:9; Rev. 22:15). If they, the unrighteous, are "without", then we, the righteous, are "within".The question is, we are " within" what? We are "within" the "Body of Christ"(Rev. 22:15), the "Spiritual House"of God (1Pet.2:5), his "Habitation" (Eph. 2:22). "Within" this building (Ark) of God (1 Cor. 3:9), we are preserved from the "Wrath" (flood) pronounced upon the ungodly (Jn. 13:19, 1Jn.5:18; Rev. 18:4).To understand where Jesus was "in" God , is to understand where we are "In"; God. Jesus said, "Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am...(Jn. 17:24). You will notice that Jesus said, "where I am", not where I am going to be afterward, but "where I am now" Jesus lived his Life "In" God. The only way to get into this Spiritual Place (Kingdom of God) is to be "Born Again" (Jn. 3:4,5) (or translated into it).If you are born again, then you will be where "he was" when he was living his natural life on this earth (Jn. 12:26). Some could not enter into this place because of unbelief (Heb 4:6). Some would not enter in, nor allow anyone else to enter (Matt. 23:13) .If there was not a "Place" in this world for Gods children, then what is it that we go "In" and out of? (Jn. 10:9). Whatever it is, I know this one thing, when I die, I will not have to come out of this place again (Rev. 3:12).

Are we, the Children of God, separate from the world, and if so, how are we separate? Jesus said, "to separate yourself from them". He would not have said this if there was not a way to be separate. First, he would have to "Prepare" a place for us to be separate from the world. Jesus said, "In my Fathers House (which Jesus was (Jn. 14:10)) are many mansions (or places of abode ("Abode" and "Mansions" mean the same thing confer Jn. 14:23)); if it were not so (already so), I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you (Jn. 14:2). In other words, by his "Going", prepared the "Place" for us to be. We are now "in" the place (spirit) that he was speaking of, when he said, "that where I am, there you may be also" (Jn. 14:3; 17:24; Col. 3:4). Fore as he is, so are we in this world (1 Jn. 4:17). We are now in the "Place" that he "Prepared" for us, by his "Going". We are "In" Jesus Christ (Gal. 3:28), the place where the "evil one" toucheth us not (1Jn. 5:18). Have we (the sheep) been separated from the goats (ungodly)? Jesus said," and shall seperate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats" (matt. 25:32). The Lord said, "....come out from among them, and be ye seperate...." (2 Cor.6:17; Rev. 18:4; cf. Jn. 15:19; 17:14).

As Noah and his family were safe from the flood (Judgement), we are also safe from the Wrath of God that was past upon the ungodly, for the Wrath of God abideth on them (Jn. 3:36). We are "within"this protected Realm of God, they are "without". Just as Noah was taken out of the Judgement of God, we also are taken out of the Judgement of God. The family of Noah was not hurt of the "natural" death sentence, as we, the family of God, are not hurt of the "Spiritual" death sentence. "He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death" (Rev. 2:11; 20:6; 21:8). When a man excepts Jesus Christ as his Saviour, and the Spirit of God comes to dwell within him, and he becomes one with God (Jn. 17:21-26), then for him, this is a "Day of the Lord." This is the "Second Coming of Christ", for Paul said, "and unto them that look (seek (Matt. 7:7)) for him shall he appear the SECOND time without sin unto salvation" (Heb. 9:28; Rev. 22:16). He will not appear the SECOND time unto them that do not seek for him, until it is to late (Matt. 24:50,51). Without the "Day Star" (2 Pet. 1:19; Rev. 22:16) coming, you can not receive salvation (Lk. 2:30; 3:6), "for the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared unto all men (Titus 2:11). And as you "look" for him, remember that you will not find him in the temporal (natural), but in the spiritual (2 Cor. 4:18). "We look for the Saviour......who shall change our vile body" (wicked body) (Phil. 3:20, 21), and that must be done in this natural life. Paul said, "....if ye mortify (kill out) the deeds of the body, ye shall live" (Rom. 8:13). This mortification is done on this earth (Col. 3:5), not after you die and stand before the Judge. Our "vile body", the Old Man, which is corrupt (Eph. 4:22), must be changed like unto his Glorious Body , and it takes the "Coming of Christ" to make this change. After this "Second" coming, there is but one more "Day of the Lord" for man. "And as it is appointed unto men once to die (and we do not know when (1 Thess. 5:2,4;) ), but after this the Judgement (Heb. 9:27;cf. 1Cor.1:8, 5:5; Phil.1:6,10; 2:16). For we must all appear before the Judgement seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad" (2 Cor.5:10 cf. Jm. 5:9; Study Phil. 2:16; 4:5 , ). "Him that overcometh, will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out" (Rev. 3:12). No more to return to this corruptible body. This was established by Jesus Christ, for he is the "sure mercies of David" (Acts 13:34; Isa. 55:1-5). We will be a pillar in the Kingdom of God for evermore.

Some will not understand this, but I for one, when I die a natural death, and leave this natural body, and join the ranks of men made perfect, eternal in the Heavens, will never leave to return to this earthly plane, to re-inhabit my earthly body ,to live on this natural earth. When I get there, Jesus promised me, that I shall never go no more out, and there I will spend my eternity with God in his Kingdom. "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of Life (Spiritual Life), and may enter in through the gates into the City (Kingdom of God)(Rev. 22:14).
