To better understand Christ's
return lets take a look at Isaiah's prophecy of this time when it would
occur.
Lets start with Isa. 66:14,15"And when ye see this, your heart shall
rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the
LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his
enemies. For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots
like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with
flames of fire." Now notice how Isaiah's says the lord will come, he says
he will come with FIRE. Now if you will please read with me from ACTS
chapter 2:3"And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of FIRE,
and it sat upon each of them." Do you see the comparison of fire being
used here. Also Isaiah says he will come "like" A WHIRLWIND. Now read with
me Acts 2:2"And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a RUSHING
MIGHTY WIND, and it filled all the house where they were sitting." Do you
see the comparison here of a whirlwind and a mighty rushing wind, these
two are the same thing. Lets read on even further to understand better.
Back to Isa 66:18" For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall
come, that I will gather ALL NATIONS AND TONGUES; and they shall come, and
see my glory." Now read with me back to Acts 2:5 "And there were dwelling
at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of EVERY NATION UNDER HEAVEN." Do you
see here where all nations and tongues were gathered. Do you notice the
parallel of events that Isaiah prophecied would happen at Jesus's return
being fulfilled on the day of Pentecost. Now back to Isaiah 66:19 "And I
will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto
the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and
Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have
seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles." Here
you can see where Isaiah prophecied that after Jesus returned then his
servants would go out to preach the gospel to others who are still living
in sin and have not yet heard of his glory and of the gospel, like we are
doing today. The kingdom has been established and we are spreading the
word to others who have not yet heard it. Even John in the book of
Revelations speaks of the same thing Revelations 21:24 " And the nations
of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of
the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.." Here you can see
where the children of god are still coming in and out the kingdom of God
and bringing in their glory and honour. And John even goes on to say that
those who commit sin cannot enter into the Kingdom of God. Revelations
21:27 "And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth,
neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which
are written in the Lamb's book of life." So here you can understand even
after the Kingdom is established the saints of God are going out and
bringing in people and people are still committing sin and those that
commit sin cannot enter in."
Now to further understand what happened on the day of Pentecost lets just
listen to Peter explain it. You see when the day of Pentecost had come in
full and every man stood there marvelled and confused at what was
happening Peter stood up and raised his voice and explains to them what
was going on. Acts chapter 2 verse 14-17 " But Peter, standing up with the
eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all
ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my
words: For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the
third hour of the day. But THIS IS THAT which was spoken by the prophet
Joel;" Here you can clearly see that Peter is trying to tell them ,Why are
you standing here looking at these men when actually what you see is
exactly what the Prophet Joel said would happen. Peter says "THIS IS THAT"
which was prophecied by the prophet Joel. THIS= What they were witnessing
at that moment and THAT=the prophecy of Joel. And now Peter goes on to
explain the prophecy of Joel which they were witnessing at that moment.
Acts 2:17-21"and it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will
pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters
shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men
shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour
out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will show
wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire,
and vapour of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon
into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:(which he
just did come) And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the
name of the Lord shall be saved." AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS........, AND
IT SHALL COME TO PASS........, AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS........., other
words when all these things have come to pass (afterwards) "THEN" who ever
shall call on the name of the lord shall be saved. Now I ask you one
question, Can we today call on the name of the Lord to be saved?? And if
we can has all these things come to pass?? I do believe that Peter did not
lie when he explained this. For this cause we also, since the day we heard
it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled
with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. |
