Welcome!

I’ve always wondered how many folks out there share the same obsession with model building and collecting as I do. Consequently, I’ve created this web site to share my interest in the fine art of Scale Model building and collecting. It is my  hope, that

friends and all fellow modelers out there will take interest and contribute to the development of this site.

My interests, experience, and skills range from many subjects and scales, to a variety of mediums. To find out more about me and my hobby, I invite you to look around the different sections of this site.

I have observed that model building seems to be a dying art, which is sadly giving way to computer games and other forms of instant gratification. From my own personal experiences, I truly believe that model construction is an excellent teacher of patience, persistence, study and of fine motor skill development. It's not just gluing and painting, but you're also studying the subject which is to be your project. You research it's design, engineering, lines, craftsmanship, shading, and aging process.

Practically speaking, I realize that models are actually totally unusable when finished. There only possible function is to sit on a shelf or display, collect dust and look great. But as any

model builders will agree, it’s the trying to capture the spirit of a powerful real-life object, in miniature form, that is truly the fulfilling aspect of it all.

As with most model builders and collectors, I always enjoy sharing ideas, tips, tricks, or just plain talking about this hobby. If you have comments, questions or suggestions, please drop me a line at rickb@onthebench.cc.

Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy your stay.
