Grants
The proceeds from the RFE races are used to finance
research grants funded by the National MPS Society.
In
2005, 5 grants were awarded for research. One grant
($30,000 for 2 years) will benefit MPS II, two grants for
MPS III ($30,000 for 2 years) and two for Bone and Joint
($50,000 for 2 years).
The
Society, along with the Scientific Advisory Board, has determined
that the two focal areas for research are Central Nervous
System (CNS) and Bone and Joint. They will continue to focus
on CNS through the work of the LSDRC (Lysosomal Storage
Disease Research Consortium)
The National MPS Society has awarded $508,000 in new
grants for 2007. $50,000 was awarded to Dr. Doug Brooks
to further facilitate his work in MPS III with chaperone
therapy. Dr. Synthia Mellon was awarded the MPS III grant
for $80,000
It
is through your generous support and contributions that
these grants are possible!! Erin has taught us a valuable
lesson. By working together, we can all make a difference.
Thank
You!!!!!!!!!
