It was show and tell and Egon Spengler was the first to raise his hand, eager to show off his latest fungi experiment. The teacher sighed a heavy sigh and called on him. He got up and went straight to the class pet, Spot the hamster. Egon looked like a miniature version of a college professor, dressed in a black vest over a white clean pressed button shirt. Even his red horn glasses made him look more adult like, except when it slid down to reveal a chubby cherub like face.

"For show and tell," Egon began while adjusting his glasses. "I'd like to show the class one of the many uses of fungi. One of those uses, food. Observe, I have feed Spot for a week -"

"YOU FEED SPOT FUNGI!" The teacher yelled in horror while the rest of the class was clearly grossed out by it.

Egon adjusted his glasses again. "That is correct. However as you can see Spot is not experiencing any ill-effects from it."

"Except turning green?" One of the students pointed out. The hamster running on the wheel turned an odd shade of green. Then it turned purple.

"Fascinating." Egon observed the change. "Though I must confess I seriously doubt fungi would be the cause of the unusual color change." While Egon took notes on the changing color hamster, Mrs. Green sighed again. That was the sixth hamster Egon successfully mutated.

"Wow! That was so cool!" Ray Stantz exclaimed while eating his lunch. Sitting next to him was Winston and Peter.

"Unfortunately Mrs. Green failed to understand that what was happening to Spot was not my fault. She has banned me from even touching Spot and doing show and tell again." Egon sighed. "I wanted to research the reason behind his color change."

"I thought she banned you from touching the pet hamsters after she suspected you killed the first one." Winston pointed out.

"I suppose it could be the molds I fed to the first hamster. However, without an autopsy I can't be too sure it is my fault. She has disposed of the bodies when no one was around."

"Anyway" Peter said changing the subject. "Do you want study Spot further?" Peter smiled that I-got-a-scheme smile. Egon perked up then narrowed his eyes.

"What are you planing Peter?" Egon asked. "You know what happens if you're caught doing any more pranks. The principal will have you expelled."

Peter's grin broadened "If I got caught." Peter smirked. "Don't worry about it, Egon. I got a plan. We'll sneak into the school at night and kidnap Spot."

"But wouldn't someone notice Spot's absence?"

"Naw, we'll make it look like he ran away." Egon thought that was ridiculous but agreed to the plan because he really wanted to study Spot.

Sneaking out of the house was simple since his parents would never suspect him to. Egon sighed, as he carefully climbed down the blanket robe. Below him were Peter, Ray and Winston. All dressed in black and armed with flashlights.

"My father always said the longer I stay friends with you, the better the chance I'll have at a police record. Thank you" Egon said dryly to Peter.

"Don't mention it." Peter grinned as they quietly went to school.

School at night was a lot creepier. With no around one, it was even more creepier.

"Gosh this is really neat. You guys think we might run into Muffy?" Ray gushed as they walked quietly down the hallway.

"Muffy?" All three asked in unison.

"Yeah Muffy, there was a rumor going around about a ghost of a dead lab rat that one of the students killed." Peter and Winston paled. "They say he comes around this time looking for his murderer". Ray checked his watch.

"A rat?"

"Yup and large one too." Ray said. "Hope we can see it!"

"It would be fascinating." Egon said in agreement

"I hate rats." Peter hissed.

"Yeah so do I." Winston agreed with Peter. As they near the classroom, Winston stopped them from entering.

"Guys you hear that?" Winston alertly looked around. A squeak sound bounced off the empty hallway.

"It's-" Peter gulped

"Muffy!" Ray finished gleefully. A large shadow of a rat loomed over them.

"Oh wow!" Ray started to rush forward to the shadow. Before he could reach further, all three of his friends grabbed him and run into the Mrs. Green classroom.

"Oh come on guys! When is the next time we'll meet another ghost?" Ray asked.

"Hopefully there wouldn't be a next time." Winston answered as they quickly closed the door behind them.

"Who's there!" A green face hovered over them. They all screamed.

"It's another ghost! And it's ugly!"

"Is that mold growing on it?"

"Gosh, you mean molds can grow on ghosts?" The face sighed and came closer towards the light of all four flashlights. Winston sighed in relief when he recognized the face.

"It's just Mrs. Green." Winston said. Mrs. Green nodded and sat down in the nearest chair. From light of their flashlight, they could see she was in her light pink bathrobe and her face was covered in what looked like green mud.

"Is that why you're called Mrs. Green?" Peter pointed at her face.

Mrs. Green simply shook her head.

"Why are you here?" Winston asked.

Mrs. Green smiled. "Why are you all here?" She directed the question back.

"Is all my fault." Egon said. "I wanted to closely examine Spot. "

"So you wanted to kidnap him and dissect him?" Mrs. Green added warily. Ray looked shocked at the dissection part while Egon looked like he already considered it.

"Of course not Mrs. Green." Peter smiled charmingly, which made Mrs. Green look at Peter. "We were going to return him once Egon figured out why Spot keeps changing colors."

"I have bad feeling you will be breaking hearts someday, Venkmen" Mrs. Green sighed. "I can't let you take the hamster. Is against school policy to allow students kidnap the class pet."

"Is it also school policy to stay to…." Egon didn't finish his sentence when he saw Mrs. Green's eyes started to glow red. Behind her, her shadow mutated into a large rat.

"Muffy!" Peter said in horror. "MRS. GREEN IS MUFFY!" All four of them broke into a run.

"Isn't this neat?" Ray exclaimed while they ran for their lives. "A teacher is possess by a rat ghost."

"Yeah real neat." Peter shuddered. "What I wouldn't give for a rat trap."

"In here!" Winston directed them into a classroom. While they barricaded themselves in, Egon sat down on a chair, deep in thought.

"I wonder if this is connected to Spot?" He mused aloud.

"So what? Let's just go and hope Mrs. Green doesn't report us." Peter said.

"But Peter! Mrs. Green needs our help!" Ray urged. "We can't leave her like that."

"Yeah Peter. Just because is a teacher doesn't mean she any less human." Winston added. "We got to get that lab rat out of her."

"And then what?" Peter shot back. "For one thing we don't know how do draw it out and another thing what do we do with it after it's out?"

"Mmm." Egon entered into the conversation. "It's possible Muffy is a

disturbed spirit that's seeking revenge. Though that is highly usual for animal spirit to seek revenge where a human spirit would."

"So, boy genius, tell us, why is the animal spirit acting this way?" Peter asked.

"Mrs. Green is possibly the one who killed Muffy years ago." Egon answered. "It would explain why Muffy choose to possess her."

"But why possess her now?" Ray asked. "It could have possessed her years ago."

"Perhaps it was waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike." Egon said in deep thought.

"Muffy must really be cheezed off about that death to still be haunting here all those years." The guys groaned at the pun but agreed.

"We need someone to talk to Muffy in order draw him out of Mrs. Green." Ray said and everyone looked at Peter.

"Why me!" Peter demanded.

"Because you can smooth talk your way out of almost anything." Winston smiled. "Remember that window you broke when we playing baseball? Peter chuckled. The lady of the house was pissed at first, but after talking with her, Peter was able to convince her the damage wasn't too bad and it was only an accident. He got off Scot free.

"As you can tell, you are the best candidate at drawing out Muffy from Mrs. Green. After it's drawn out, we have better chance at helping it dissipate peacefully." Egon said and clapped his hand on Peter's shoulder. "Good luck."

"But why did it have to be a rat?"

After the guys "helpfully" shoved him into the classroom, Peter looked back making sure the guys were behind him which they were and looked at the front of the class to see Mrs. Green and the shadow of Muffy behind her.

"Hello Muffy." Peter said, mustering all his charm in it while not sounding scared. Damnit! I hate rats! He thought to himself.

"What do you want?" The shadow hissed while Mrs. Green just glared at Peter with the red eyes.

"J-just to talk." Peter said, his smile weakening a bit. "What's the matter Muffy? What did Mrs. Green do to you? Come on you can talk to Uncle Peter about it."

"She fed me to her cat" Muffy hissed even louder. "I trusted her!"

"But she was just a kid." Peter tried to reason. "Are you sure she did that?"

"She shoved me in front of her cat and said, "EAT!"

Peter sighed. This was not going to be easy. "But how does possessing Mrs. Green help ease your pain?"

"I have her eating the pet hamsters." Everyone looked grossed out. "I have her eat them raw. And if anyone asks about what happened to the hamster, I just tell them Egon killed it when he was doing his experiments and I had to replace it with a new hamster."

"So those five hamsters didn't die as a result of a poisonous molds." Egon seemed upset. Now he had to redo his mold experiments because of the new information. "However if Mr. Green digested them, would that explain why Mrs. Green's face has molds on it?"

"No, she puts something on her face before she goes to bed." Muffy replied patiently.

"So for five nights in a row." Winston said. "You'll wake Mrs. Green up for hamster dinner. And tonight would have been the sixth night." Mrs. Green then smiled a toothy and bloody smile.

"There goes dissecting Spot." Egon snapped his fingers in disappointment while the guys just stared at him.

"Yuck. But how does that help? Beside making us all lose our dinner." Peter said. "What she did to you was horrible, but you have to move on. Go on to the big cheese in the sky or whatever you rat spirits go."

"Cheese?" Muffy moaned sadly. "I have forgotten about that and many other things."

"Here you go!" Ray cheerfully produced a cheese sandwich from his back pocket. He handed it to Mrs. Green and Muffy nodded his head in thanks.

"I have been angry for so long, perhaps a long sleep would do me some good." After Mrs. Green devoured the cheese sandwich, she fell limp into Peter's arms and he eased her to the ground.

"I wonder if she'll remember all this?" Egon asked. Peter shuddered.

"I know I wouldn't want to remember. Let's go before she wakes up."

The next day, the guys chattered about their adventure last night. Luckily for all of them, they were able to sneak back home without alerting their parents. Luck was still on their side as Mrs. Green continued on with her lesson without mentioning about last night, much to Egon's relief as he told them during lunch.

"Still, I would have loved to study Muffy. I wanted to learn how he was able to talk." Egon said wistfully.

"It was odd wasn't it? How can Muffy speak?" Ray asked. "It was like something taught him."

"Don't tell me you suspect there might be another ghost out there!" Peter said in disbelief.

"Isn't it exciting!" Ray smiled. Peter and Winston exchanged worried looks.

"Ray, does the words life-threatening and dangerous mean anything to you?" Winston asked.

"Sure. But what does that have to with the possibility there might be another ghost?" Ray asked not able to see the connection in his excited mood. Peter sighed. Hopefully things wouldn't get too complicated.

"It could be a demon." Egon said thoughtfully. Peter's jaw dropped, Winston nearly choked on his sandwich, and Ray gushed.

"Wow! That could be! Demons are more powerful than ghosts." Ray looked like he was almost floating above his seat. "You think we might see one?"

"Demons!" Peter cried while patting Winston on the back. "I hope not, we nearly wet ourselves with Muffy! Think what happens if we meet a demon!"

"Not a pretty picture." Winston answered after recovering from the shock.

"Oh come on. Where your sense of adventure?" Ray asked.

"Muffy ate it along with the hamsters." Peter said. There was no way; at least he hoped they wouldn't meet anything else that was not normal.
