Notation "Per Str Dew Drop" in the lower left corner
indicates that
the cover was carried on the steamer Dew Drop.

PAID 10-in-circle on cover postmarked VICKSBURG/MISS on JUN/7 (1861).
Cover originated at "Burtonia Miss June 6" where postage
was charged as
indicated by the"Paid 10 cents." The Burtonia post
office recently had been
discontinued, but apparently the postmaster at Vicksburg
credited the postage
paid there. DUE 5 (green) may have been added at Petersburg
for forwarding
this mail to Judge Gholson in care of Mr. Hubbard.
