Rankin Lay, daughter of the late Lala and Thomas Vaughn and the late
Joseph Rankin was born in Monticello,
Kentucky
on October 12, 1927.
She departed
this life on Monday, December 13, 2004 at her home on Belmont Street, Harrodsburg, Kentucky
She confessed
Christ at an early age and was a faithful member at the Centennial Baptist Church.
She worked
as a Senior Companion for the Mercer County Senior Citizens and was
a Private Duty Sitter.
She was married
to the late William “Bill” Lay. She leaves to morn the passing, two
sisters: Mrs. Mae Evelyn Thomas and Mrs. Bessie Anna Lyons both of Harrodsburg,
Kentucky; a devoted brother-in-law, Mr. Jessie C. Thomas, Jr.; an anut,
Mrs Mae Beatty of Muncie, Indiana; an uncle, Mr. Jack Garth of Monticello,
Kentucky; another brother-in-law, Mr. Bennie Yeast, Harrodsburg; two
step daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Seiner, San Diego, California and Mrs.
Allen (Jackie) VanDyke, San Jose, California; a step-son, Mr. Lowell
Lay, Harrodsburg, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Mrs Jewell Lay, Harrodsburg,
Kentucky; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded
in death by two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Clay Bottoms and Mrs. Zelma Yeast
and by one brother, Mr. Thomas Vaughn, Jr.
Funeral services were conducted 11:00 AM,
Thursday, December 16,2004 at the Centennial Baptist Church by Elder J. D. Short III. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery
Nephews served as pallbearers. Honorary
bearers were: John Smith, III, and Gary Smith.
Visitation was Thursday,
December 16,2004 from 9:30 am until the hour of service at the Centennial
Baptist Church

contributions are suggested to Heritage Hospice, POB 1213, Danville, KY 40423. Arrangements were entrusted to Parks
Funeral Home of Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
