Summer
is coming to an end and we are in the last few Wednesday night
lessons before Caravan begins. We will have four focused and fun
nights filled with wonderful lessons, games, crafts, object
lessons, outreach and fun. So make sure your child attends on
Wednesday nights. We begin our journey at 6:45 and end at 8:00.
Here
is an outline of the next few lessons:
August
1: Lemonade
from Lemons
August 8:
Life Is Like a Jar of Rocks
August 15:
How We Talk
Lesson
4 on Wednesday August 15 is super fun but very messy. Children
must wear clothing that can get dirty and bring a change of
clothes. We will be discussing how important what comes out of our
mouths is. This lesson will feature some exciting and fun events
including a food fight & the human ice cream sundae race, so
make sure you invite all your friends, family, and neighbors to
join us for this fun outdoor lesson. As an added bonus if we have
50 kids in attendance, Kaatje & Brad Pitzer will take pies to
the face.
Don’t
forget about the fun on Sunday mornings in the Big City Studio.
Our live studio audience, the kids, participate in fun games and
interactive movies. It's a lot of fun, so join us and bring a
visitor on Sunday mornings.
We
need your help. We are currently in need of 1st and 2nd grade and
nursery Sunday School teachers, a weekly Cherub Church
helper, and a Cherub Church teacher for the fourth Sunday of
every month. Please let me know if you are interested in helping
out and making a difference in the life of a child. Please keep
these openings in your prayers that we may find these teachers for
our children. – Kaatje

Kids Missions--A New Destination
Last year the children learned all about
missions in Africa. This year we will be
"traveling" to the Asia-Pacific region. This
will be a fun trip, kids. Let's go!
There are six brand new missions books! Here
is a little about each one:
For
all readers:
~A
Monkey Ate My Homework ... a
story set in Benin (Africa)
~The
Jesus Jeepney ... a story about
the Philippines
~The Trail of the Wooden Horse
... a
story about people known
as Gypsies (Ukraine)
For advanced readers:
~Snowballs
and Coconuts ... a story
about an early missionary
to Antigua (the Caribbean)
~The Captain, His Daughter, and Their
Discovery
... life on the mission field
~The Case of the Secret Box
... a story about missions in Japan
I would like to challenge
all kids to read at least one book. Why? Because
these reading books are an excellent way to learn about Missions. Kids,
perhaps you could choose a Missions Book for a school book report. Parents,
you may read the books to children as well, possibly as bedtime
stories. There will be small prizes for each book read. Let's
encourage our kids to read books that matter!
