Thanks to my brother Bruce, who turned me onto bateau.com.  I looked at their site and many others.  I never heard of the stitch and glue method of boat construction until my brother told me about it.  Being one who enjoys taking the time to build something, I found that the stitch and glue method to be very intriguing.  So, after a few weeks of drooling over boat building plans on the web and listening to my brother tell me how his boat building was going, I decided to order Sam Devlin's book on stitch and glue.   Having read the book in a few nights, I was now ready to tackle the problem of not having a boat head on.  I knew I wanted a relatively small boat (i.e.easily trailered).  I also knew I would limit most of my time on it in the Indian River.   Using this, I just fell in love with the OB15 as soon as I saw it.  The pictures of the boat on bataeu.com really made me want to build the boat and the size couldn't be any better.  I could have built the OB18, but thought the 15 would be better.  It also will fit in my garage while building it.

Well, last week I picked up the plans (I live in Vero Beach so it was easier), studied them for a few nights and last Saturday started building it.  This boat is not a true stitch and glue but very close.  A jig is required to build it as the interior of the boat is fairly open without too many bulkheads.

I am by no means an accomplished woodworker, so if I can build this boat then most anybody can (except my other two brothers).  I will try to update this page while the build progresses.  Well let's get on to the building.

Dave
