Up-close shot of the passenger side Torque Box from under the
car. Notice the large dent caused by running over something. This
has contributed to more rust on this box than the driver side.
Also note the rust on the bottom of the inner rocker panels. Floor
extension and outer rocker panel is in surprisingly good shape
compared to the metal you see here. As stated previously, the
former owner had welded in makeshift floor pans and didn't treat
the welded area. Everywhere the pans were welded to, rusted through
and where the overlap of the welded in metal, there was a lot
of surface rust.
Close up of inside of inner rocker where it meets the
torque box (shot opposite from above shot of TB). You can see
how I cut slices out of the inner rockers to remove them in this
shot. Note, much of this rust was not visible till the floor pans
were coaxed out of position. The rusty piece you are looking at
is the inside section of the inner rocker panel. These cars basically
rusted from the inside out. It's what I couldn't see that was
the worst.
Same as above, but of the rear section where it meets
the rear TB. Note again the slices in the metal.
Overhead shot of passenger floor with inner rocker
partially removed.
