Pirol is a Gento vom Haus Larwin grandson. Gento is one of the few German Shepherds to win the coveted Royal Dutch Police Dog Association KNPV titles. This title is 10 times harder to train than Schutzhund, and is predominantly a sport for Belgium Malinois. Only 5% of the KNPV titles are awarded to German Shepherds.

Pirol's bloodline also goes back to Greif zum Lahntal. In the 1992 Bundesieger, 18 of the dogs traced their lineage back to Greif.
