Purpose of Site and My Story

  My purpose for this site is to create a community of single mothers where we can come and give support to one another through sharing our lives. Because it is in connecting with each other that we find the strength and courage to keep moving forward. My name is Pamela, call me Pam, though. I have been a single mom for 5 years. The circumstance that led me to this was divorce. I have a 6 year old daughter named Hannah, the love and blessing of my life! Hannah will be finishing out her kindergarten year in May 2002. She gives me reason to get out of the bed in the morning and face the day. The doctors were skeptical of me being able to conceive. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 7. By age 15, I had bilateral total knee and hip replacements. My teenage years were stolen away from me by this dreaded disease. I had many dark days, but I can remember my mother's words echoing in my ears, " Life is what you make it, you can choose to be happy or miserable." It has taken me many years to get to the point where I am happy with myself. But the journey was well worth it. I feel I have accomplished much in my life in spite of my physical challenges. I earned a BA in elementary education, taught for 6 years, married for 9 years, and was able to conceive and have a baby. I now teach occassionally, for I am blessed to be able to stay at home and raise Hannah. Life is not easy! We all walk down different paths and all have a story to share.
