From The Dean of Studies
In
January, 2004, an historic event took place. THE SCHOOL OF CHURCH MUSIC opened
its administration office at 101 Bull Street, Second Floor, Room 202, Savannah,
Georgia.
THE
SCHOOL OF CHURCH MUSIC is in need of your support.
Musicians
who are qualified and trained in church music are quickly becoming a non-emphasis
in colleges across the country. An urgent call has been heard by those
concerned about future generations of church musicians and something is being
done about it in Savannah, Georgia.
The School of Church
Music was founded to educate qualified students from a wide variety of
religious backgrounds. Its goal is to provide a Biblical foundation and Church
music ministry skills that apply to denominational preferences and “Keeping
Church Music Sacred.”
There
is no other private school in the country with such a vision.
Interest
from the clergy and members of Methodist, Baptist, Nazarene, Episcopal,
Presbyterian, just to name a few denominations, have expressed interest and
support for The School of Church Music.
By
maintaining a private school status, the curriculum is not biased toward any
denomination but rather seeks input and guidance from all clergy and religious
leaders to provide training to students based on denominational preferences.
Clergy
from various denominations are sought out to teach denominational doctrines.
Courses in Liturgy and Bible are primary goals, along with Church Music
History, Church Music Musicianship, Church Music Ministry and other
concentrated studies. Instruction on instruments and choral directorship
training are essential concentrations.
The
School of Church Music seeks to assist churches who cannot afford a full time
musician by training Music Missionaries and providing them with assistance
financially and in other means such as transportation and housing.
The
vision of The School of Church Music can be a reality with your help and
assistance. For more information about the school and how you can help, go to:
