Awards made to students of Calhoun School

 

 

 

The Calhoun School of Music had its first annual Music Awards Program, Friday night, Nov. 5, in Walker Auditorium on Middle Georgia College Campus, Cochran.

 

The School of Music has a its goal to train people in the music filed faster and better than any other musical training school in this area. "We have trained, qualified, personnel teaching guitar, piano, voice, organ and other type training," said Ronald Calhoun, director.

 

Welcome, introductions, goals of the school and presentation of awards were given by Calhoun. A program of piano music was presented by three of the music instructors, Miss Dona Sue Ross, Charles Blue and Ronald Calhoun.

 

Students receiving awards were:

Most Advanced Students in Guitar: David Hamby, Harriett Morris and Shirley Ward

Outstanding Progress in Guitar: David Bass

Most Progressive Students in Piano: Susan Warren and Will Briggs

Most Advanced Students in Piano: Janet Strom, Donna Bowen, Gina Williams and Melinda Marchant

Oldest Student: R.C. Mullins (76 years old)

Youngest Student: Dee Ann Ford

Yearly Awards: Tina Brantley, Chris Barlow, Sandra Brown, Beth Dye, Kathy Eckles, Dee Ann Ford, David Hamby, Mike Harrell, Sherry Hargrove, Janice Hemphill, Elaine Jenkins, Harriett Morris, Phil Manning, Ann Nicholson, Edna Pruitt, Dianne Rawlins, Denise Roland, Janet Strom, Beverly Stroup, Kay Stroup, Gary Stroup, Shirley Ward, Vickie Williams and Gina Williams.
