The Decline of the Work Ethic

What has happened to our work ethic?  I grow weary as I notice more and more often the lack of work ethic in Today's workplace.  At first I thought it was just in young people but now I see it's everywhere.  I am SO tired of getting the wrong order, or being short changed at the store, or having to wait an unnecessarily long time for something that should only take a minute or two.

What ever happened to taking pride in a job well done?  I'm talking about that feeling of being proud of what you do and wanting to do it to the best of your ability.  So what if you think your job is not important.  If they pay you to do it, it's important.  And if you make it important to you, then other people will be influenced by your attitude.  Do it well, and do it so that other people will be proud and you can be proud of yourself.

If you shirk your duties, people notice.  And it can build resentment from your co-workers and customers.

It is such a refreshing blessing to do business with someone who takes the time to do it right and who really cares about how it's done.

I strongly believe it is important to instill a good work ethic in children as they grow up, because eventually they will be running the planet.  The world needs responsible, hard-working, caring people -- not shiftless, apathetic,  slugs.

Just imagine what a beautiful world it would be if EVERYONE took pride in their job and had a good attitude!
