Saffold Family Book

The Saffold Family Society recently launched an effort to publish a book on the history of the Saffold family. The SFS currently is accepting submissions for the book from any Saffold descendant who wishes to participate.

Publication

The book will be published in two sections:

1. NARRATIVE. Histories and photos/artwork on each branch of the Saffold family, beginning with William Saffold I and his wife, Temperance Shore, with "sidebars" consisting of family stories, support documents, written memorabilia and any other pertinent articles.

2. GENEALOGY. Descendancy charts from each branch of the Saffold family.

Publication will be via the internet, with CD or paper copies on demand. The cost of CD and paper copies is yet to be determined.

Guidelines For Submissions

There is no limit to the number of words and photos or artwork that may be submitted.

Content should include as complete a history as possible (realizing that no genealogy is ever without "holes") of your branch of the Saffold family. Topics can include, but are not limited to: birth, death and marriage dates and places, physical descriptions, migrations, property transactions, education, military service, church affiliation, elections to public office and estate settlements.

Every fact should include a source in footnote form, even if the "source" is "family tradition." Sidebar stories and family tales are encouraged, but should be clearly identified as such.

For the sake of privacy, include no mention of living persons.

Text And Art Technical Guidelines

Text and genealogy charts must be typed, double-spaced, preferably on disk or CD, but paper copies are acceptable.

Include your name, address (email and snail mail) and telephone number.

Typed photo captions should be attached to the back of each photo or piece of artwork. Each piece of artwork also should include your name and clear indication of which story the art accompanies.

Either color or black and white photos are acceptable. Artwork should be good quality photographic, laser or inkjet prints on paper, disk or CD.

Include a stamped, self-addressed envelope, if you want your artwork returned.

Please Note

All articles and artwork will be subject to editing by the SFS, in collaboration with the author. Material deemed unsuitable will be deleted.

Remember
The amount of coverage received by each branch of the Saffold family in the book will be determined solely by the amount of text and artwork submitted. There are no SFS "ghost writers" available to research and/or write your branch history for you.
