DeKalb County, Ga. Queries
2007-2009

MADDUX (also spelled MADDOX & MATTOX). I am seeking any information on Thomas Franklin MADDUX and his wife Elizabeth. Thomas transferred his civil war pension to DeKalb County in 1901, and Elizabeth is living in Doraville with her son (and next door to her daughter Anna Ira MADDUX-MILLER) as a widow. I believe Thomas died between 1901 and 1910 in Doraville. I have been trying to search the cemeteries in Doraville, but cannot seem to make as many trips as it takes to find the grave. If there is anyone out there with any information at all on Thomas MADDUX or his wife Elizabeth, please contact me. One of their daughters (Ira Ana) and one son (Arthur Leeroy) are buried at the Prosperity Cemetery in Doraville. Any information at all is appreciated. Thank you!

ROBERTSON, CRUCE. I am researching Robertson's and Cruce's who came from Dekalb and Gwinnett Counties.  Specifically James B. Robertson family and his grandson George Judson? Washington? Robertson and Mary Jane Cruce/Cruse/Crews who married George Robertson in 1976 in Dekalb County.  She was the daughter of Moses Nelson Cruce and Adeline Lanier Medford and George was the son of Harriet Lyon/Lyons and James Alexander Robertson.  George had several that continued to live in Dekalb County so there are still Robertson in Dekalb County with this family.  My problem is finding them!  Also still Cruce's living in Gwinnett and Dekalb County.  They are all connected together.  Any help appreciated.

HITSON. I am looking for any and all information pertaining to Boyce and Catherine HITSON and their children. They are shown in the 1850 Dekalb Co. Census, but nothing prior or after that. He was born about 1790 and her about 1796. The had children: Sarah, Lara, William,Mary, Martha and Robert.  I would love to know if they remained in Georgia or maybe moved to Tennessee when son Robert did. I also would love to find out more on Catherine and what her maiden name may have been.  Robert was i the 66th Georgia Infantry Company K during the Civil war and we believe he died during this time, as he is never found in any census records with his wife and children. Thanks,
Sarah Hitson

WALDROP. Am Seeking any family or information concerning Flight Officer J. Singleton WALDROP (born 1921), the son of Jessie and Myrtle WALDROP.  He gave his home address as being Atlanta, Georgia when he entered the armed forces for World War II.  He died 22 September 1943, when his B-24 Bomber crashed in southern Osborne County, Kansas.  A granite memorial to Waldrop and the other ten servicemen who died in the crash has been erected at the site.  So far nine of the eleven servicemen's families have been found and contacted; WALDROP is one of the last two families we wish to let know that his wartime sacrifice is being remembered.  Any help will be greatly appreciated, if nothing more than to learn of where Singleton's remains were interred.
