I would like to correspond with anyone who has information on Franklin
(K. or M.) BARNES, who was shown in the 1900 Census of DeKalb Co. as
follows:
1900 Census, DeKalb Co., GA, McWilliams
District, 21 Jun 1900, Reuben T. Evans, enumerator, #163:
Barnes, Frank K. head w-m Dec 1851 48 md 2 yrs
GA-SC-GA Farmer (rents) can read/write
, Mary S. wife w-f Oct 1857 42 md 2 yrs GA-SC-GA can read/write
He was also mentioned as an heir in Henry Barnes estate (Butts Co., GA),
in a letter as follows:
Letter, 22 Dec 1896, DeKalb Co, GA, filed in the estate file, reads,
"Mr. W. D. Curry, Sir, As I don't understand Martin to be an heir in the
estate of Henry Barnes I will not sign the paper that you sent up here
until I see further in to it but I C. O. Barnes & F. K. Barnes will
except of the settlement before the Ordinary the first Monday in Jan
1897." Signed C. O. Barnes / F. K. Barnes with H. B. Barnes (Witness)
My specific reason for inquiring is that I believe this man led a double
life; also in Blount Co., AL, and was my great-grandfather. I have a lot
of information on his Alabama family.

Looking for information on Joel Mason who
was in the 471 MD of DeKalb at the census of 1840. He is thought to be
the brother of James Mason who lived across the line in Sandtown.
Likely would have been a member of Utoy Baptist Church. Does anyone
know if their membership records survive? Thanks.
